By Degrees: Covering Climate Change

In July 2020, NHPR launched its new climate change initiative, By Degrees. With original news features, digital stories, talk shows and events, the project seeks to advance the conversation around climate change in our region.

We strive for reporting that empowers, engages and informs policy-makers and the public so that they are better able to become active stewards of the natural world. Led by Managing Editor Cori Princell and our energy/environment beat reporter, the project incorporates the work of reporters across the newsroom. A dedicated By Degrees webpage makes stories easy to find.

Document: Long-form, Investigative Journalism

Launched in October of 2020, Document is a narrative-driven reporting project committed to long-form, enterprise and investigative journalism. The first season of the Document podcast is titled “The List.” It examines New Hampshire’s decades of secrecy around police misconduct and secret lists kept by government lawyers.

Document Season Two is a revision of “Supervision,” a series detailing one parolees struggles with addition. It reassesses the story, based on new reporting and revelations that surfaced after the series’ original release.

Overtime Explores the Stories of Women

Just as the fiscal year drew to a close in June 2021, we launched “Overtime,” a series that looks into how the pandemic has affected women’s lives. Through interviews and personal stories, “Overtime” explores the pandemic’s toll on six women from different backgrounds, ages and experiences — at work, at home, and in their day-to-day lives.
